FAQ

Q)   What equipment do I need?  What should I wear?
A)  For beginning you will not need any special equipment, we will provide loaner gear.
As far as clothing, We recommend comfortable athletic clothes, low-profile shoes, and a pair of cheap leather gloves. We also recommend you bring a water bottle.

Q)  How much do classes cost?
A)  The 12 week introduction course is hosted through SCC and cost $79. Guild dues are $30/month for Regular Membership, which primarily cover the cost of the space we use to host the Guild on Mondays.
(Membership is by invitation after completing the Introductory course)

Q)  Where and When do you meet?
A)  Regular Practices are held on Mondays from 6:30 to 9:00 at Easterday Recreation Center
Introductory Class is usually held on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00, at Willard Community Center, but check the class listing at SCC for exact details.

Q)  When can I start? / How do I sign up?
A) Introductory classes are held quarterly through Southeast Community College. You can find their classes at: https://www.southeast.edu/business-and-community/community/personal-interest/sports-recreation-and-fitness.php

If you scroll down that page to the ‘4 Ways to Register’ and click on ‘online’ you can search for the next class session by searching for ‘swordplay’. The classes DO sell out fast so as soon as that SCC catalog comes out you’d want to register.

Q)  How old do I have to be?
A)  18 & Older (Anyone younger will have to contact us along with a Parent/Guardian to discuss a waiver)

Q)  Can I visit and see what you do?
A)  Absolutely, just contact us ahead of time and we would be happy to have you sit in and watch a class and talk with our instructors

Q) I saw Joe/Emma taking pictures at an event, How do i see those?
A)  Joe makes a point to put all the pictures they take onto the Student Drive, so check there first. If not there, ask Joe during the next class, he may be a bit behind.
